Global Status of Women and Girls Conference
March 3, 2016 - March 5, 2016
Christopher Newport University’s College of Arts and Humanities organized this interdisciplinary conference with the aim of fostering inquiries into the complex issues faced by women and girls around the world, both historically and today. The conference seeks not only to clarify key questions that must be asked in this vital area of public policy but also to unearth the forces that created these current dilemmas. Through the interdisciplinary study of past and present, the conference will engage researchers in policy conversations benefiting the global community. See tentative schedule here.
The conference keynote speaker is Pulitzer-prize-winning journalist Sheryl Wu Dunn. The conference will also feature a screening of the film He Named Me Malala, an intimate portrait of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai.
