Please join GreeneWorks and the Child Marriage Research Network for a presentation by Dr. Sonalde Desai of the University of Maryland, on Thursday, April 14, 2016, from 10:00 am until 11:30 am, at the Population Council office in Washington, D.C. Dr. Desai will present her talk “Now You See It, Now You Don’t: Gender Transformation in India,”examining the discourse around child marriage and the current status of gender norm change in India.

Dr. Sonalde Desai is a Professor of Sociology at University of Maryland whose work deals primarily with human development in developing countries with a particular focus on gender and class inequalities. Presently she is leading a large nationally representative panel survey, India Human Development Survey, at National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), New Delhi.
